friends
It's so nice to have close friends to occupy your time, share your thoughts, help alleviate stresses... Yesterday (the mid day part of it) absolutely sucked ass. I've been having some lingering issues at the office with a tape silo... Anyhow, I was stressed, unhappy, and not feeling all that great. Jonathon and I had made plans to meet for some post school/work coffee at Caribou. This completely turned my day around. It was so nice to sit and talk about whatever. Jonathon is one of those very rare people that I can sit back and just talk to about anything. No awkwardness. No weird silence. No blatant show of my lack of social skills (well, at least from my point of view). Jonathon had to run home to do some stuff at one point, which ended out coffee meeting. I could have, however, stayed there and just talked some more about whatever topics happened to come up.
I say that people in my life like Jonathon are rare. It seems that most of the people I am forced to interact with, from people at the office to some random person at the gym, I am much less willing to talk to. I recall an analysis a while back, maybe from high school or something like that, where people tend to fall into one of two groups: those who have a lot of casual friends and those who have only a few close friends. I definitely fall into the close friends people category. I don't have an innumerable about of friends, but the people I do socialize with frequently know me quite well and I would consider them to be more than just casual acquaintances. These are the rare people I can just be totally comfortable around; be myself and all that crap... 60% (or there abouts) uninhibited Robert. If you want the other 40%, get me a martini... or two... or more. Oh, and gin martinis. None of that pussy vodka martini crap. I want the stuff which leaves people passed out and twitching on the floor. You know, the stuff which tastes good.
So, after coffee with Jonathon, I went home to see my boy. Of course seeing him cheered me up even more. After 30 mins or so with him, I headed out to see another close friend, Jayson, for our usual Wednesday evening movie/documentary/whatever watching social thingy. We started off the evening with some violence in the form of a Millennium episode! An excellent way to resolve any residual frustrations left over from the work day. After that, we finished up the first disc of a documentary about airplanes. Very nice evening.
Anyhow, another day has started. More problems on the horizon. We'll see how they go. The boy and I plan to have a bit of a date night tonight. Just the two of us. I'm looking forward to it. It will be nice to spend some time with him.
By the way, for any readers out there interested in RSS feeds... I have yet again changed the RSS feed for my thoughts. I made a stripped down view of the thoughts which looks a little nicer in RSS feed viewers such as Mozilla Thunderbird. And if for some fucked up reason you use Micro$oft's Internet Explorer which does not have tabbed browsing and automatic RSS feed detection and is more open to viruses and other such bad things than a 50 year old prostitute on Cheshire Bridge Road with 45 years of 'service' behind him, try out Mozilla Firefox. It has a nifty RSS feed dynamic bookmark thing.
Of course, I can't have a discussion about friends and not mention my Lucy! Love ya!
